Mud Magnets

My boys are such mud magnets....

They were in the backyard this evening riding their bikes through mud.

But then they had even more fun cleaning up.

Footed Pajamas

Funny conversation this morning with the boys while getting ready for school....

Davis - "Wow, these socks are REALLY comfortable"

Matt - "Hey Mom, you know those pajamas you got us that have the buttons on them that came with those socks?  Can you get me more of those socks, because they are really good socks"

Davis - "Oh I want footed pajamas" - (the pajamas Matt was talking about had socks that came with them that they wear with their shoes...not actually footed pajamas)

Matt - "Yeah, me too"

Davis - "But I would not wear them if I wasn't home sleeping"

Me - "Why?"  (of course I knew why....he is almost 10...but I wanted to see what he would say).

Davis - "I think people would make fun of me....but I just love footed pajamas"

What I think is the most funny about this is that I can't remember the last pair of footed pajamas the boys have owned since they were babies!!!

The boys have been in the same room since Monday as we found bunk beds for them and I put them together this weekend.  It is working out wonderfully and they are getting up to their alarm clock and even brushing their teeth before we head downstairs....that is big for us!!!

Boys

When I was young and dreaming about becoming a mom, I only pictured myself with boys.

What in the world was I thinking?????

These two boys of mine continue to make me wonder how men are so dominate in business and politics.

Although, I guess I better understand the statement "behind every good man is a great woman".

"Going Out", Letting Go and Enjoying

I am sitting here on a rainy Halloween night waiting for my boys to come back from trick-or-treating. My Pirate and Commando are out filling those bags and enjoying themselves. Hopefully they caught up with their friends. The wagon is filled with juice boxes and beer...wonder if they will ever return?

Hannah is over at her friend's house trick-or-treating this year...kind of tough for this Mommy. I know I have to let her go, but damn it is hard!!! I gave my instructions (no taffy or sugar gum - we are paying too much for those braces to break them for a little candy) and sent her on her way. She is missed so much and hopefully her friend's mom will get pictures so I can post later!!

We did have a wonderful family lunch today that was quite entertaining. We found out that Hannah has a new boyfriend. She is "going out" with Ben, who plays football. How long has this been going on? Since last night when Hannah's friend sent Ben a text to ask if "he wanted to go out with Hannah" and he said YES!! Davis asked her if he was fat....her answer....

"I don't know, I haven't seen him in like a year"

He moved and goes to another school. Pete joked with her and said maybe we can have him over for dinner for ALL of us to meet him!!!!

Happy Halloween...enjoy what you have!!!

Good Time

We went camping this weekend and had the BEST time. Pete had to work every day at 6am, so he would stay until 9 or 10 and then go home to sleep (we camp only about 1/2 hour away). I decided to leave Hunter at home since Pete would be here at night. I thought I might miss him....but I didn't. Hannah wasn't there either because she ended up spending the whole weekend with her friend's family....we did miss her though!!

Sunday was a day that I laughed more than I have in AGES!!

Monday morning came and the last day is usually a little hectic with getting everything put away. Pete wasn't expected until about 11, so it was just the boys and me. They asked if they could go down to the beach and play in the sand. My first reaction was "no - you will get sandy and wet"...but instead I decided to seize the moment and they had a great time. I took my chair down there and just marveled at my two healthy boys enjoying life. I only had my phone with me, so the picture quality isn't great....but hopefully you can "see" the pure joy we all felt on the last day of a wonderful camping trip!!!

Mud Magnets

Yesterday afternoon, the boys were driving me crazy while I was on the computer wasting time on Facebook diligently looking for a job. Davis finally asked Matt if he wanted to go jump on the trampoline. I about cheered when they finally headed outside!!

About 10 minutes later, Pete says "Mommy, I think you might want to come out here". I knew it had to be something with the kids.

I look out and see my two boys playing in a mud puddle in the backyard.

This video is taken from inside through the window, so the quality is not the best.

I guess they enjoyed themselves!!!

Thank Heaven for Little Boys????

I had a plan to brag about a visit by the First Lady of Georgia to Matt's school yesterday. What an awesome experience for my little guy!! He is not in the picture below, but the school has some pictures where you can see him.
My plans changed as soon as I came back from the store this afternoon.
I hear Matt crying as I get out of the car and he suddenly appears from the back yard
COVERED in mud from head to toe!!!
I guess he fell in the mud puddle he and his brother had MADE!!
My first thought was "I need a picture of this", but I could hear my mom say "oh Sally, that would be so mean." So I helped him get undressed (in the garage) and while he took a shower with his dad, I rinsed out his clothes.
As we were sitting down for dinner I looked out at the backyard and was seriously pissed off to see that it was a disaster and there were things out there that didn't belong outside. I told the boys to go clean it up....which they actually did...for about 5 minutes.
Davis came running up with Matt in tow and said that "a snake was right on his foot and could have bit him". There was no way they were going back out there.
I finally had to turn the tv off when Dave wouldn't go take a shower (after replacing EVERY cushion on the couch and loveseat that they had removed). Of course Matt had to join him. While they were taking a SHOWER, I went and cleaned up the backyard because a storm was on its way. When I got back in they were no longer taking a shower, but a bath.
They had poured out all of the shampoo again and also squeezed out my conditioner that I just bought this afternoon. I thought my head was going to explode!!!
Hopefully by tomorrow I will allow Davis to speak to me again!!!

Not Bubble Bath

Anybody out there know how to get it through my boys' thick heads that

SHAMPOO IS NOT BUBBLE BATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least I have finally trained them to leave my conditioner alone
Probably because it doesn't make bubbles!!!!

**I have had to edit this post because of a huge pet peeve of mine...I wrote "no" instead of "know". I wonder how much I had to drink before I posted this??? I also corrected the "think" heads to the appropriate word**

Lesson Learned

Today Pete and I took the boys to check out "Gatorback MX park" (in Gainesville, FL)....I don't think the boys were as excited about this HUGE dirt bike track as Daddy was!! I was pretty impressed with the size and it is neat to see a track you have heard so much about. Matt just kept saying that he was too scared to ride on this track.

We were close to the mall and I had a coupon for Belk's and a gift card. I needed something to wear for my niece's confirmation next week. I found a great red sweater that will look nice, but I needed to spend a little more in order to use my $10 off coupon. The boys were dying to ride the escalator so we took a short trip up to get it over with. I realized when we got up there that this is where the lingerie is. I really needed a new bra......

This is where my lapse in judgement came into play....

Note to self...DO NOT TAKE 3 BOYS WITH YOU BRA SHOPPING!!!! I say 3 because Pete was just as bad as the boys. They snickered and poked and Matt announced several times his "love" of bras. Pete followed me into the dressing room....Matt looked under the stall thing. Seriously, do they ever grow up?

I am sure you can picture their delight when I decided to put the bra on in the car (my brother can tell you that I rarely make it home from a store without opening something). I am pretty sure all girls know how to put on a bra without taking off your shirt (an art really)....well that is what I did. I tried to fix my shirt after I got it on and it seemed to be stuck on something. I looked down and realize that I had put it on OVER the seat belt. Pete said I would have driven some emergency worker crazy if we had gotten into an accident and they would wonder how in the hell my bra got wrapped around the seat belt!!!

Sometimes I scare myself!!!

Do you promise?

Being the great mother that I am, I bought the boys a 4 pack of Play-Doh today. My only request....

PLEASE DO NOT MIX THE COLORS!!!!

They promised and I think they may have even tried....

But they just couldn't do it!!!

I sure am glad that they aren't my dentist!!!!

Boys

I have always been partial to boys....so much that I truly love about them. My dad is still my superhero....God knows I love being married to one!!!

Being a mom to boys is a dream come true for me!! I love that they want to marry me and never leave home!! They are pretty easy to raise....very little drama!!!

I am not the least bit bothered by most of the nasty, gross things boys do on a daily basis....believe me I have heard enough "barking spiders" to last a lifetime.

But there is one thing that drives me crazy.....

Is "aim" really that hard? Do you know that your neck turns.....you don't need the whole body to turn to every little sound!!! How about trying to write your name in the water....it takes some concentration, but I bet you can do it!!!

All you moms of boys know exactly what I am talking about!!! Thank God for Clorox wipes!!!

While looking for images for this post I came across the below product....I am going to seriously look into it!!! I guess I am not alone!!! What are the chances the boys would actually put the shield up?

The Simple Things

Sometimes it the simplest of things that makes your heart melt....

From my boys.!!!
