Busy

Holy Moly....we have been so busy!!  I have a short term contract position that I started last week.  I am really enjoying it, but it is very busy!!!

We have all THREE kids in softball/baseball.  We have practices on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.  Games are on Thursday for Hannah and Saturday's for the boys.

Monday night we have religious education for the boys, I teach and Hannah is an aide.  Hannah has her class on Sunday night.

Pete and I are bowling again this season every other Sunday evening.

School is in high gear...except for this week because we are on FALL break (which actually gives us a reprise from all the other stuff too except work).

And we are about to be able to take a shower in our master shower (it has been out of commission for a couple of years due to a leak and shower door issues).  I actually did my first tile job after completely rebuilding the seat in the shower (the source of the leak).  Still no shower door, but a shower curtain has been installed that will do until we can afford something I really want.  I will update once I can clean the shower pan (I haven't been able to put any water in the shower until the caulking was done)!!

I am looking forward to this weekend when we don't have to run to games and practice!!!  Hopefully I can milk it into Birthday Weekend!!!

The close of a chapter

Over 7 years ago we bought a small camping trailer brand new...right off the lot (actually we had one ordered so we could get the fabric we wanted).

We have loved this camper and have had many good times in it.

We called it "Tommy" (Hannah's)..."Lil" (Pete's)...and "Willy" (mine) each time we drove by it where we had it stored.

Due to our current "economic state", we decided it was time to sell our beloved trailer.

So, yesterday Pete listed it on Craig's List at about 11 am. We had not done anything to prepare the trailer...to clean it up...take anything out. We imagined it would take awhile for it to sell and we could bring it home this weekend to get it ready.

Boy were we wrong....it was sold for our asking price within a couple of hours. Pete brought it home and started the process of cleaning it out. I stopped by the store on the way home to get some storage bins and started helping when I got home. I cried....it was sad. However, there is also a sense of relief. We couldn't really afford to go camping right now and we still had to pay to store it. We had really outgrown it in some ways too...we were only a family of 4 when we got it. Maybe we can get an end of the year deal on a tent so we can still have some camping fun.

We delivered it to the family that bought it and was greeted by a very excited almost 3 year old little boy who jumped up and down saying "we have a camper, we have a camper". They were so excited about it.

I left a note to the family wishing them as much joy as we have had in the trailer. I also did a little note inside a cabinet with a Sharpie that states that "The Yost family loved "Tommy", "Lil", "Willy" from 3/03 to 7/10".

It was much easier to leave it than I thought it was going to be. I was so proud to be able to show them the rails and the ladder my dad made and was even more proud when I heard my husband recommend winterizing the trailer (don't fall over Mom and Dad) and him showing him the bypass that my dad installed to help with the process.

We will miss that trailer...but know that it will be loved by the family that bought it. I also know that I can make the mortgage and pay for the kid's sports this fall.

Bye Willy....thanks for fun!!!

***The ad actually helped us connect with an old friend that would never return Pete's calls - cause he is a slacker :). As we were getting the trailer ready, Pete got ANOTHER call about the trailer....or so we thought. The guy says "I hear you have a crappy trailer to sell...I bet it is really a piece of crap...I bet the owner didn't take care of it and I hear he is a real jerk". Then he laughed and Pete knew exactly who it was....his friend Jay. He is actually looking for a trailer in the price range we listed it at and saw the ad. He thought it looked like ours but then knew for sure when he saw Pete's name and number. As we said goodbye to one "friend" we were reconnected with another....life goes on.***

Back to Reality

After a wonderful week off of school for the kids, everyone headed back to the grind today.   Surprisingly everyone got up great this morning and seemed to have a good day.  Davis and Hannah start the CRCT (standardized testing for the state) tomorrow, so they are willing to get to bed early tonight.  I don’t really sweat these tests and none of the kids “have” to pass this year to advance.

I had a lot of fun with the kids at the zoo on Friday.  It was crazy busy and we had to park pretty far from the zoo.  We had a lovely walk through the park and the weather was beautiful.Zoo Spring Break 003

I couldn’t get Noah to look, but this was at the entrance with some very excited kids!!!Zoo Spring Break 011

They made their own train….Zoo Spring Break 028

We had a picnic…Zoo Spring Break 031

We saw pandas, lions, Jason’s Dad orangutans, gorillas, zebras, monkeys and giraffes.  We saw a strange “yelling fight” with the lemurs that happened right in front of us.

Living in the moment

The tide seems to be changing a little for our family.

I could worry that it won't last or that it isn't enough.

But I won't.

Instead I am enjoying my new contract job with my favorite person/boss in the world.

I am thankful that the family is falling into the new routine quite well, with the boys going to the After-School program for the first time in their lives. I am pretty sure Hunter isn't too pleased about the new schedule though!!

I keep reading the report from the doctor with a huge smile that says my thyroglobulin is negative, which means no cancer!!!

We are gearing up for a large heat press order that we hope to deliver by this Thursday for the church. It will be a test to see how we can keep up that side business with us both working full time. The profit couldn't come at a better time!!

I can't lie and say I am still not worried, but I learning to just take things a day at a time and continue to live with HOPE.

"McDonald's should make these"

That is one of the things my children said today when I whipped up some of these for dinner...

Who would have thought that a couple of potatoes and some oil would bring me such accolades!!!

Empty Nest...Almost

We are actually getting a taste of having an only child for a little over 10 days because Hannah and Davis went with Pete's mom's house in Florida.

Right now it feels pretty good!! Matt is so GOOD when he is by himself. I guess he has spent time by himself when Hannah and Dave were in school. We have tried to take him to the pool the last two days but the pool has been CLOSED for maintenance (I guess we have a super special maintenance team since we can't even see them doing any work). It is supposed to open tomorrow...we will see!!

Thankfully we have a playground in the neighborhood that Matt enjoys. We also ran some errands yesterday, like getting the truck inspected, tags renewed and getting Pete's driver's license renewed.

Tonight Pete has a job opportunity that he is going to apply for. I hate to jinx anything, so I will just ask for prayers that he does what he needs to do when he needs to do it. Although it has been nice to spend so much time together, it is getting a little tense around here!!

As always, any spare prayers you could send His way on my behalf would be greatly appreciated. I continue to try to stay positive, but it is getting harder every day.

Doing the Right Thing

We have been pleasantly surprised by two companies this week.

The check engine light has been on in the truck since we (said very loosely since I had nothing to do with the installation - thanks Pop) changed the engine in December. The problem was "insufficient air through the EGR valve". However, the truck has been running okay, so there was no big concern. On Memorial Day, while pulling the camping trailer, the truck was not running well at all. My dad offered to take a look at it and see what was wrong. I believe he cleaned something and looked at a couple of things. It ran much better and the check engine light was staying off...but came back on after we picked it up. My dad bought the electrical part of the EGR valve and the light went off. ...until the drive home. We decided to look into buying the actual valve and went to one store and they didn't have it in stock. So, we drove to O'Riley's Auto Parts. When he inquired about the part, the guy asked if the check engine light was on. Pete said yes and the guy said "I worked for Ford for 6 years and I know exactly what your problem is, the plenum (Pete's new favorite word) is clogged. Just remove it, clean it out and I am sure it will fix your problem". He even drew out a diagram for him so he would know what to look for. Pete cleaned his plenum (that seriously makes me laugh out loud) and sure enough the light went off and the truck is running GREAT!!! Thank you O'Riley's part guy....way to do the right thing!!!

**I also wanted to note how proud I am of Pete for taking the risk to try this on his own, he was concerned that he might mess it up and he was going to see if my dad could help him. He went ahead and did it all on his own!! Pop - you may have created a mechanic monster**

The second company is a juice company. This week Davis broke out in a rash from an unknown source. We have no idea exactly what it was from. We analyzed everything he had eaten and our guts were that some kind of dye or something may have caused it. He had Cap'n Crunch Berries, Gobstoppers and this new juice from Juicy Juice. When I looked at the ingredients for the juice, there was a statement that it included "less than 2% of natural flavors". I sent a message on-line to Juicy Juice to find out exactly what was in the "natural flavors". Yesterday, they CALLED me!!! How awesome is that. I don't think that the juice caused the problem, but they were so concerned and took down all of our information. They are also sending me coupons to replace the juice in question as well as other Nestle products. What a nice change to have a company actually concerned about their consumers.

A New Day

We went camping over the weekend (which I will write a post later about) and celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus with my whole family.

It was easy to forget all the "crap" I have to deal with at home.

So, yesterday when it was time to pack up, I started feeling very mad and sad because I knew it would come rushing in once I walked through the door.

And I was right.....

But today I have renewed HOPE. I continue to be amazed at how our family and friends are supporting us through our rough patch. I am honestly humbled by it all!!

I was very tired yesterday and not feeling great (damn pollen is kicking my butt) and I started to get discouraged.

I made the decision to pick myself up...dust off...and keep moving. The right thing WILL come along, I WILL figure out the health care stuff for my kids and we WILL be okay!!!!

I had a video phone call (pretty cool actually) today with a recruiter in California for a position here that sounds very promising and I meet with another recruiter tomorrow. One of my recruiters I have worked with for years called today with a possible job. So things are happening.

Pete went for his sheriff's deputy testing and passed with flying colors (he got a 93.5% on the written part...go Pete). There is still a hiring freeze, but hopefully it will be lifted soon and they can hire some people. He will find out this week when he will be going for all the psychological testing (which he could fail LOL) and for an interview.

I have been slack in updating my blog, so I plan this week to get caught up....I have kindergarten registration, continuation of my baking spree, a trailer vent experience, and a wonderful hail storm to share with y'all...and of course some Easter egg adventures!!!

Here is one of my favorite pictures from over the weekend....this is Davis holding my niece (I know she isn't looking but I love the look on Dave's face).

Rainy Saturday

We have been getting rain for days now.
I love that it is hopefully washing away the gross yellow pollen that falls this time of the year.
I don't love the fact that my boys are not able to go outside and they have been bouncing off the walls!!! At one point, Davis was pulling Matt around the house by his blanket...

I remember when a rainy Saturday meant an all day Lifetime Movie Marathon. No such luck when you have kids in the house!! I am getting a few movies in today, but it is in between telling the boys to calm down...quit running....leave the dog alone...no more cereal...and so on!!

Pete did accomplish something today...Matt got a haircut.

I also figured out what Pete has to bribe him with...Matt gets to control the air.

Here is short video of the end of the haircut...

Now we are off to eat some Chili at Pete's dad's house.

I think the rain is supposed to stop by tomorrow....whew!!!!

Another long day in store for me???

Yesterday seemed to go on FOREVER!!!

The day started with the news that my neighbor's parents died in a car accident over the weekend (they were around 80). Then we had an orthodontic appointment for Hannah...Pete wasn't feeling well so I took her. Everything went well, except the doctor really wants us to get 3 teeth pulled...we don't have jobs or insurance so it will need to wait. It only means a delay, not a big deal, but it bothers me.

When I got home from taking Hannah back to school and getting groceries, Pete said he wanted to go to the doctor because his throat was killing him. We went to the Minute Clinic at CVS and after an agonizing ordeal to get a culture (because Pete couldn't seem to keep his tongue down) he has strep. Thanks to Publix, we got our free antibiotics and he should feel better soon.

Hannah gets off the bus in tears...her throat and head were really hurting. I called our pediatrician and begged for antibiotics without us having to bring her in. Fortunately he called it in to Publix...so another trip to the store. She is home today and hopefully will be feeling better soon!!

I checked our messages once we got home and we had received two calls from the school nurse, for Davis. His stomach was hurting because "he ate lunch too fast" and then the nurse said that the rash he has under his nose is probably an infection. He has been picking it and so it looks so bad. I put peroxide on it and then coated it with antibiotic cream. I sent the cream with him to school....hopefully that will clear it up without a visit to the doctor.

After I got everyone settled, I headed to the church for a wake for a wonderful man, Ed Oudt, who passed away suddenly on Friday. He was 73 and it came as quite a shock. As I sat there last night, I couldn't help but think that I don't want to be in the Oudt's shoes anytime soon. I am not ready to say goodbye to either of my parents. My hearts go out to Trudy (his wife) and his "children".

I took Dave to the bus this morning and he was in a great mood. He asked me to come to lunch with him and I said if he didn't go to the nurse today that I would go tomorrow. At 7:15, phone rings...it is the school. Davis is in the office and his stomach is really hurting and is crying. I tell him that he needs to relax and breathe. He said he missed me and that is why his stomach hurts. I didn't know what to do...so I told him I would go to lunch today if he would try to go to class. Yum...I am eating school lunch (can you hear the sarcasm?)!!! I think I need to have a conversation with his teacher to figure out what we can do about his stomach.

I guess I need to get a move on....I am supposed to be job hunting and I am hoping for a shower today!!

The day has finally arrived!!!

This motocross family is headed down to the Georgia Dome to watch the Supercross!!

It is really the Holy Grail for MX fans. The series is broadcast on CBS on Sunday afternoons and we have every one in the series on DVR. I am thinking that Dave watches each race about 100 times!!

We were disappointed that KTM ended their half time challenge for 7-9 year old racers. We had Dave's credentials all lined up...including recommendations from his teachers and his Citizenship Award. We really hoped he would be picked to ride out on the Supercross track (it was done at each race and you didn't know which one you would get picked for). I have heard that now KTM is sponsoring some kind of Freestyle half time show...which I know my kids will like even more!! I think the adults enjoyed the little 50cc bikes out on the track way more than the kids. We have several racing friends that participated and they said they were treated like royalty.

We also expect to see some "protests" of the new law that went into effect regarding lead in the youth dirt bikes and ATV's. I don't understand all that is going on, but I guess the government is afraid that our kids are going to eat parts of their bike and that would be dangerous.....

Our racing friend wrote a great blog that explains the issue.....http://community.myfoxatlanta.com/blogs/BuckB

As the racing mom of two racers....I hope this law is changed as it greatly effects the sport that we have invested a lot of time and money in. I am also very concerned for all the vendors that will lose large amounts of money because they can't sell the bikes or replacement parts.

I am so excited about today...we will be leaving around 2 to hopefully catch some practice before the racing starts. My concern now is what will we use for a behavior modification tool after tonight....we have been threatening to not let them go to the Supercross if they don't behave!!!

Fresh Start

I am so glad it is finally 2009 (even though I hit the big 4-0 this year)!! Happy New Year!!

Today I awoke feeling so much better than yesterday. No more head wobbliness (is that a word?). Hannah and I made it to the new year and then we went right to bed...well Hannah went to bed, I fell asleep on the couch waiting for Pete. Pete has been bartending at the church's party for several years now. It is the Catholic church....hence the need for a bartender!! It is a paid gig....so we will be able to pay for Hannah's gymnastics this month!! It is usually just fun money, but this year it is needed a little more!! Pete also drives my parents so they can drink as much as they want and not have to drive.

One thing that is bugging the crap out of me is the damn super glue is on other places than just the cut and I have pulled out lots of hair getting the excess off!!! I think I would have preferred stitches (which I know makes Pete shudder), but maybe then I would leave it alone. Oh, who am I kidding, there would be no stitches for the doctor to remove because I would likely pull them out myself!!!

Boy do the kids need to go back to school!!!! They are about to drive me crazy and there is no "Santa Threats" to make them stop acting so crazy!! They go back on Tuesday and I can hardly wait. Matty sure needs his naps....he is hard to deal with when he is tired!! Tonight at a little after 7 he got up and went to his room and put himself to bed without so much as a goodnight!! I guess he is tired...hope he doesn't wake too early in the morning.

Hope the job market wakes up next week and I can get moving on getting back to work. We hope to hear something on Pete's soon as well!!! There are a lot of sentences around here that start with "when you get a job..."

My dad has started looking at the truck and hopefully soon we will know exactly what we are up against.....I am praying for "freeze plugs"!!!

Super Glued

Yesterday we decided to take the kids ice skating....they had never been. We are doing our best to spend time with kids while we have it (hopefully soon we won't have the time because we will be working). Although I grew up in Denver, I do not have much experience with ice skates. Pete grew up in New Jersey and has lots of experience. Hannah went right out and was like a pro!! Davis hugged the wall for awhile, but then he started motoring around...he did somewhat of a "walking" movement. He fell quite a few times, but always got right back up. Matt didn't like it too much. He quit about an hour into it.
At the end of the two hour session, I was trying to get over to the
wall so I could turn myself around.....and I fell backwards....really HARD and slammed the back of my head on the ice. OMG....that hurt!!! I felt drunk when I tried to stand up. After I got up, someone noticed my head was bleeding. I ended up with about an inch long gash on the back of my head. After completing an accident report (why is it that people have to stare....I just fell and there was a little blood), we headed to the doctor. He super glued my cut and checked my jaw (it felt like it was out of whack....but I think it was just swollen).
I don't feel as bad as I thought I would, but I do hurt. My head also feels a little wobbly when I change positions quickly. I was wearing a new cream sweater I got for Christmas....luckily my new washing machine and some peroxide took it all out!!
We really did have a good time and I will skate again!!! I was really embarrassed....so I think my pride was hurt more than anything else!!!

Hopeful

Now that Christmas is over, it seems life is slowly returning to normal. The kids have been keeping busy with all their new loot!!! Hopefully Davis will lift his head up from the DS in the next couple of days...although it might just be to play the Wii!! He did manage some time outside today!! I did about come unglued when I saw him about to run his new remote control jeep that his grandparents gave him right through the mud...this was maybe 10 minutes after I told him he couldn't ride through the mud with his bike (the washer doesn't come until Monday and I don't want nasty dirty clothes laying around....actually I am not sure I would even put them in the washer).

As for the truck.....we are hopeful that it is something we can get fixed without too much dinero. Our friend, Alan, is going to come over tomorrow to take a look (he was a mechanic before becoming a cop) and he will also help Pete get it over to my dad's house for him to take a look (thank you Woody for letting us borrow the trailer). We are grateful to have people in our lives that are willing to help us out!! We are also grateful for credit.....we didn't win the lottery last night!!!

On Monday I will be heading to the unemployment office to start the process to at least have some money coming in (I tried to go on Friday and they were closed on Thursday and Friday for Christmas and Washington's birthday.....at least that is what the sign said).

We are hoping to hear on Pete's job soon. We were told it is a 4-5 week process. All this "togetherness" is a bit taxing on us all!!

Tomorrow I am going to take the Christmas stuff done (except the tree which I will leave until the Epiphany). Pete will be working on the truck and then will be going to help Alan with some painting (Pete loves to paint...Alan hates it). The washer and dryer will be delivered on Monday...yeah we can do some laundry. I am sure the joy will fade quickly!!

The challenge this week will keeping the kids entertained as they will still be out of school. Maybe I will come up with some crafts!!

I am sort of done with 2008....I sure hope 2009 brings some better days!

Seriously

We are both unemployed.....

These are the things we have had to spend unexpected money on in the last week:
  • New refrigerator (freezer stopped working)
  • New washer and dryer (washer went out on Tuesday and I had to take all of our laundry to the laundromat)

Tonight when we went to go buy a new washer and dryer in the truck (so we could save the delivery charge) something went terribly wrong....there is water mixed with oil (never a good thing). The engine is only 3 years old as we had to replace it when the head gasket broke. It had a 3 year warranty that ended on the 23rd of December!!! Maybe we won't need a new engine, but seriously do we need all this hassle?

We did buy a lottery ticket tonight.....at least there is a little bit of HOPE!!!

Blessed

Today I truly felt the blessings of the Gift God gave to us with the birth of Jesus.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening at my parent's last night where my sister gave me the best gift ever....I got to handle two of Lilah's wardrobe changes!!! Anyone that knows me knows how much I LOVE babies and it was wonderful to spend some one on one time with our newest addition. We had a great time with each other and everyone was VERY pleased with how generous my parents were again this year!!!

This morning started a little early for my taste (we told the kids they couldn't come downstairs until after 7).....7:02 they were in our room telling us it was after 7! Santa managed to put the squeeze to the wallet and delivered some wonderful presents to everyone!!!

Christmas dinner was at our house this year with Pete's mom and step-dad (here from Florida), Pete's dad, and my parents sharing in a casual dinner. We enjoyed playing "Oh Hell" and a game that I am sure I will catch "hell" for in the days (and years) to come called "Swap" (Not sure I have seen Pete laugh that hard in years....and that was during the instructions).

Tomorrow will bring a visit to the unemployment office and possibly a shopping trip for a new washer (ours went out on Tuesday - it is only 17 years old!!!).

I want to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas!! Please take the time to remember the good in your lives!!

Great Day

Some days really are better than others.

Saturday was one of those days.

The day started with a visit from Santa....the Mountain Park Volunteer Fire Department was nice enough to escort him around to deliver an early present - it is really hard to wait for the big day!!!

We then headed to the bowling alley for the 2008 Moto Madness awards banquet for Davis. Davis earned 1st place in the 50cc ages 4-6 and 2nd place in the oil inject class. His trophies are HUGE and he also got lots of goodies (including a new set of gear - or "outfit" as Mommy would say). We also got to spend some time with our motocross family outside of the track....everyone cleans up pretty well!!!

There was a raffle for a pit bike that was very exciting. They drew 10 numbers and Davis was one of those. Then they put each ticket back in and you were out when they called your number. Davis' number was the 9th number drawn....so close!!!!

The day was rounded out with Lil' Pop (Pete's dad) agreeing to babysit the kids while Pete and I went to a Christmas party.

Hula Hoops are not for Matt

We have spent a lot of time in the last couple of days playing on the Wii....mostly Wii Fit. Pete is so proud of his ski jump that "no one can touch" as well as his 38 second tightrope walk.

Matt loves the hula hoop exercise. He is so funny when he does it. I just don't think Hula Hoops are for boys!!!

Below is a video I took of him...sorry about the lack of light!! Yes, he is wearing his dirt bike pants.

I can't believe we only have one more day with the kids before they go back to school. This week has gone by very quickly. I am hoping for some job action this week!! I surprisingly got 3 calls from recruiters on Monday for jobs they were submitting me for. There is one that REALLY interests me, but who knows if they will choose to interview me. Seriously, who wouldn't love me after they met me?!!

Pete took his test for the Sheriff's department on Tuesday and should find out on Tuesday or Wednesday whether he passed or not. I sure hope he does because I think he is really ready to get back to work!! He has been much more bearable since he took his test!!!

Thanksgiving was wonderful...very low key. Lisa and Jason did make it and brought little Miss Lilah. It is so great to have a baby around. I know Lisa got really tired and sore, but she was a trooper!!! How could we not feel thankful when our family was blessed with a healthy little girl!!!

No shopping for us this weekend. I have been peeling wallpaper and picking out a new paint color for the kitchen. Pete took the boys riding yesterday and Hannah was at my brother's. I had a wonderful afternoon to myself. I was able to beat the final level of George of the Jungle and beat Pete's score on the soccer thing and the bubble thing (of course he said he doesn't even like those games...whatever).

A little more upbeat

After my last depressing post, I thought I needed to lighten things up a bit!!

We have had a couple of fun days with Thanksgiving "feasts" with all the kids.

On Thursday, Davis had a Thanksgiving program where he was a "bang bang guy" (a Pilgrim man) and then he had a "feast" in the classroom. My mom and I went and ate with Hannah for the school turkey lunch (yummy!!).
Yesterday, we had a lunch at Matt's class. That food really was yummy!!! The teachers made everything and then you could bring something to share. I made mini pumpkin muffins from a box from Trader Joe's (love my two buck chuck) and they were so good!! Matt ate so many of them. My mom liked them as well, so I will be bringing them to Thanksgiving dinner.

Pete could really use some prayers right now as he is making a lifestyle change. We have decided it is now time for him to go back to work. Now the hard part....finding out what he wants to do when he grows up. We may have found something that he is really interested in. A county sheriff deputy that works in the jail. He has applied for a neighboring county as well as our county that have said they have openings. He goes on Tuesday to take a test for one. This would be a "real" job that has insurance and other benefits. He is really struggling with making this change. He isn't afraid to work, I think he is just nervous. If you could spare some prayers for the rest of as well, we could use some patience to deal with the side effect of his nerves!!!

Not much on the job front for me, but I am still trucking along. Just waiting for my niece to make her grand entrance (I have finished my present for her and got it wrapped last night - now she can come). I did however finally get past the "mechanical turtle" on George of the Jungle on the Wii!!!! Got to love progress!!!

Heavy but not Fat

The thought of getting in front of someone else and reciting something that I am pretty sure I don't know by heart is terrifying. But for the group of 4th graders I "listened" to last night, there was NO fear!!! Each grade level has a specific prayer they are supposed to learn and the child will earn a certificate for remembering the entire prayer (seriously that would not be enough incentive for me). This isn't bad when you are talking about the Hail Mary, Our Father or the sign of the cross (and surprisingly the Act of Contrition). The fourth graders are required to learn the Apostle's Creed which is very similar to the Nicene Creed that is actually said during mass. Boy was I glad that I had a cheat sheet in front of me because there is no way I would have been able to get it all right!!!! None of the kids were able to recite the Apostle's Creed, but every kid came out and tried a prayer. There didn't seem to be any nerves or anything......I think I was more nervous!!!

On the way home, I had a very interesting conversation with Hannah and Davis. We got to talking about the importance of not making fun of people because it can really hurt them and they may have troubles forever because of it. We were specifically discussing weight and how people know if they are heavy or skinny. I said " I know I am heavy, but the only person that can change that is me and it would be very hurtful if someone teased me about it".

Davis said "You are heavy but not fat....lots of moms have way bigger butts than you".

Always looking on the bright side Little Man.....you sure made this Momma's day much better!!!
