Lordy, Lordy...Look who's 40

ME....

Today I have been on this earth for 40 years...

Can't say the last year has been the best, but the first 39 pretty much rocked!!

I am looking forward to hopefully at least 40 more!

Man's Best Friend

Today we watched "Marley & Me" (I know - we are seriously behind on current DVD's). It was a little more emotional than I expected.

I was reminded that dogs don't care how much money you make, where they live, etc., all they want is to love you.

I am not sure how much of the end of the movie I saw between the tears and reminder of a time almost 2 years ago. We had to put our 11 year old lab/shar pei down because of a sudden illness the day after Thanksgiving. I remembered saying goodbye and watching Avery take her last breath with a beautiful sigh that said "thank you".

Job well done Girl....

I was also reminded that life moves on and that Hunter has filled a huge void since Avery's passing and he certainly keeps us on our toes!!! Below is a picture of him refusing to get off my bed so I could put clean sheets on it. The mattress cover is what is over him....he simply would NOT move!!! He makes me giggle on a daily basis!!

When I think of dogs, I always think of my sister. She is such a huge dog (and Dawg) lover!! While I was searching for the picture of Avery and I, I saw this picture with my sister and Abby and her two daughters. Both Lindsey and Abby are now playing with Avery and I know she misses them both so much!!

Hug your four-legged friend today and remind him/her how much they mean to you!!

Good Time

We went camping this weekend and had the BEST time. Pete had to work every day at 6am, so he would stay until 9 or 10 and then go home to sleep (we camp only about 1/2 hour away). I decided to leave Hunter at home since Pete would be here at night. I thought I might miss him....but I didn't. Hannah wasn't there either because she ended up spending the whole weekend with her friend's family....we did miss her though!!

Sunday was a day that I laughed more than I have in AGES!!

Monday morning came and the last day is usually a little hectic with getting everything put away. Pete wasn't expected until about 11, so it was just the boys and me. They asked if they could go down to the beach and play in the sand. My first reaction was "no - you will get sandy and wet"...but instead I decided to seize the moment and they had a great time. I took my chair down there and just marveled at my two healthy boys enjoying life. I only had my phone with me, so the picture quality isn't great....but hopefully you can "see" the pure joy we all felt on the last day of a wonderful camping trip!!!
