1.11.11

Eleven years ago today we received some news that started our lives into a tailspin.

Today, we received news that will hopefully stop the spinning and have us moving in a straight line.

I got a J*O*B.

On the 17th, I will start working as a Controller for a small real estate company.  The opportunity really culminates all of my experience into one job.  It has taken awhile to get everything final...I interviewed on December 2nd at a lunch interview where my new bosses actually came out to where I was contracting so I didn't have to drive far and they treated me to a wonderful lunch.  The holidays slowed things down and the snow didn't help with the offer letter that I finally received today.

I have been unemployed for 2 years and 2 months (but lucky to have a few contract jobs that paid the bills).

We have a long road ahead of us to get back to some sense of financial security, but at least we are starting down that road.

Thank you isn't enough to thank all of those that have helped in so many ways during a time that was hard....it sucked a whole lot less because of all of you!!!  I don't want to ever forget what I have learned and I am looking forward to this new chapter!!

Adjusting

Pete is almost done with his first week of work!!!

He LOVES it....I haven't seen him this happy in a really long time.

His day starts at 6:15am, but he is home by 3:10. He had today off, but he works from 6am to 10am on Saturday and Sunday.

Because Pete is gone before the kids catch the bus, that duty falls to me every day. Thankfully they have all been wonderful and Matt is getting on the bus with no tears. I asked him if he was ready for me to come have lunch with him without him crying or if he wanted me to wait a little longer....he said "maybe a little longer". At least he is honest with himself.

My interview last week seemed to go well. I was told that he (the hiring manager) wanted to see me again after he is done with the screening process. I really liked the company and the work. I am really hopeful that it works out and I can get back to work. Pete says that I have to do all the housework since he is working now (LOL - I am sure I brought that on myself)

I guess I better get to bed...that bus comes early!!! Thank you all for your prayers...I think the tide just might be turning!!!

p.s. Today is my nephew's 6th birthday....Happy Birthday Lou, Aunt Sally loves you so much!!

One Down

...and one to go!

Pete got a J*O*B today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He will be working as a grounds technician at a private golf club that is maybe 5 minutes from our house (and that is only because he has to drive through our whole subdivision (we are in the back) and then through the subdivision that houses the club.

He was so excited when he walked in the shop this morning and saw all the toys tools that he will get to work with.

He took his drug test today and they are running a background check. Once all of that comes back, he will get to start back to work after 6 years of being a stay-at-home dad. It is very entry-level, but he LOVES golf, LOVES landscaping and can't wait to get on that tractor!!!

We don't know his schedule yet, but I am sure it will work out!!

Some of our prayers seem to be answered....now hopefully tomorrow I do well at my interview!!

Congrats Pete!!!!!

Motrin Anyone???

Today was the 6th time Pete and I walked/ran over 3 miles in our very hilly subdivision.

I hurt.

He hurts.

I made the mistake of asking Pete if I could cut the yard for more exercise (I have to ask because of an unfortunate event on Mother's Day a couple years ago - apparently the yard does not need to be scalped at that time).

I am regretting my request....it was HOT and my hands are killing me!!

I hurt.

I need medicine!!!!

On a much brighter note,

Pete got a call this morning from the Sheriff's department with the news that he is being offered a conditional job offer - there will be psych tests, lie detector tests and a background investigation (none of which he is worried about - I am a little worried about the psych test).

There is still a hiring freeze, so we don't know when it will actually happen.

We are hopeful for a different, more immediate position that he is working on.

At least we are making some steps forward!!!

I still HURT!!!

Again...

I am back in the job market again!! On Wednesday I found out that my company is downsizing and I am one of those cut.

I have been busy networking with my recruiters and posting resumes. I absolutely HATE looking for a job and interviewing!!!

I have been given some time to get something, but who knows if it is enough.

If anyone knows someone that needs an experienced, awesome CPA, please let me know!!!

We are doing okay, just a little shocked. Any prayers for a quick and successful job hunt would be appreciated.

I will be back tomorrow with some fun updates about the kids....we have been attending end of season baseball parties and a wonderful veteran's day celebration. I may even have to throw in another video of "Dog"!!!
